Hut 6

The famous Hut 6 where cryptanalysts led by Gordon Welchman decoded German Army and Airforce Enigma messages.

The original preservative used on the hut has preserved the wood but defies all attempts to make paint adhere to it, resulting in the shabby appearance.

There was a 6' high blast wall close to the hut to protect it against possible bomb damage—the tour guide is standing on the brick foundation. The closeness of the wall to the hut meant that little sunlight or fresh air could get through the windows.
